Just Like We Never Said Goodbye

2016

Leipzig, Germany

Capacitive sensors are embedded within living plants atop white pedestals.  The sensors measure electro-biocapacity, activating video and sound when touched by a human body.  Touching a thorn on the cactus will trigger and event.  The central sculpture on the pedestal contains gyrosensors that allow the sculpture to act as a joystick.  Moving and turning the sculpture allow for free navigation of the virtual world.  This is a multiplayer installation and some mechanisms require at least 2 participants for activation.

Memorial based on the 1985 film Return to Oz.
